University of New Haven鈥檚 Physician Associate Graduate Program Earns Provisional Accreditation

四色AV鈥檚 new master鈥檚 level physician associate program has earned its provisional accreditation from the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant. The first class of the 24-month full-time program will enroll in the fall.

Part of the University鈥檚 School of Health Sciences, the Physician Associate program will welcome its inaugural cohort in the fall. Designed as a 24-month, full-time graduate program, it combines intensive didactic instruction with hands-on clinical training to prepare students for practice as highly skilled physician associates.

The provisional accreditation affirms that the University鈥檚 Physician Associate program is prepared to deliver a comprehensive, outcomes-driven educational experience aligned with the expectations of the profession.

The program鈥檚 mission emphasizes preparing compassionate, patient-centered clinicians who are equipped to serve diverse populations and contribute meaningfully to interprofessional healthcare teams. Students will gain a strong foundation in primary care, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based practice, ensuring they are well prepared to excel in a wide range of medical settings.

Accreditation-Provisional is an accreditation status granted when the plans and resource allocation, if fully implemented as planned, of a proposed program that has not yet enrolled students appear to demonstrate the program鈥檚 ability to meet the ARC-PA Standards or when a program holding Accreditation-Provisional status appears to demonstrate continued progress in complying with the Standards as it prepares for the graduation of the first class (cohort) of students.

Accreditation-Provisional does not ensure any subsequent accreditation status. It is limited to no more than five years from matriculation of the first class.
